HOW DAXXIFY WORKS

Softer Frown Lines. Still Your Expression.

Those vertical “11 lines” between your eyebrows form as the corrugator and procerus muscles contract when you frown, concentrate, or squint. Over time, repeated movement can make the creases more noticeable, even when the face is relaxed. Daxxify® works at the nerve-to-muscle junction: its active ingredient, daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm, temporarily blocks release of acetylcholine, reducing contractions in specifically injected muscles.

What makes the formulation distinctive is a peptide stabilizer. Unlike traditional botulinum toxin products formulated with human serum albumin, Daxxify uses a proprietary peptide formulation. This is a product-design difference—not proof it is safer or more effective for every patient.

Daxxify does not add facial volume, replace a skin resurfacing treatment, or treat every type of wrinkle. For loss of cheek or lip volume, a different approach such as Juvéderm® filler may be more appropriate.

THE DAXXIFY DIFFERENCE

Why Patients Consider Daxxify®

The decision is not simply which product lasts longest. It is which injectable, dose, and treatment pattern suits your facial anatomy, preferences, and history. We discuss benefits and limits before you commit.

Frown-Line Focus

FDA-approved cosmetic use targets moderate to severe glabellar lines, the vertical creases created by frowning between the eyebrows. Individual anatomy and the degree of resting lines matter.

Peptide-Formulated Technology

The neuromodulator uses a unique stabilizing peptide rather than a human serum albumin excipient. It is still botulinum toxin type A, not a skin serum or collagen-stimulating peptide injection.

Potentially Longer Intervals

Clinical trials found a median return to baseline glabellar-line severity at about 26–28 weeks. Some patients may appreciate longer intervals between appointments; others experience a shorter effect.

CANDIDATE EVALUATION

A More Relaxed Look Starts With the Right Plan

  • Prominent glabellar “11 lines” that deepen when you frown or concentrate.
  • Adults seeking subtle softening rather than changing the shape of their face.
  • Patients comparing wrinkle relaxers who want to discuss the clinical duration data for Daxxify.
  • Patients willing to review treatment history, prior toxin results, and medical considerations.
  • Not a filler substitute: Daxxify does not create new volume in the lips, cheeks, or folds.
  • Not an appropriate choice with an active infection at the injection site or a known allergy to ingredients.
  • Requires additional caution with neuromuscular disorders, swallowing or breathing problems, or medicines that affect neuromuscular transmission.
  • Not automatically suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding: discuss limited safety data and your circumstances with a qualified provider.

If most of your concern comes from fine etched lines at rest, pigmentation, or skin texture, your provider may discuss SkinPen microneedling or another skin-focused option rather than treating muscle movement alone.

YOUR DAXXIFY VISIT

Carefully Placed. Personally Planned.

The treatment appointment is generally brief, but safe and natural-looking results depend on planning, not speed. Here is what an appointment may involve:

01

Listen First

We discuss what bothers you about the area between your brows, how natural you want the result to look, your experience with Botox® or Dysport®, and your questions about longevity.

02

Assess Facial Movement

Your provider watches your expression at rest and while frowning, examines muscle activity and brow position, and reviews health history, allergies, medications, and prior neuromodulator dates.

03

Plan & Inject

After reviewing consent and expectations, the injector places small intramuscular injections into selected muscles of the frown-line area. Daxxify uses product-specific units and placement planning.

04

Review Aftercare

You receive specific instructions on caring for the injection sites, handling ordinary activities, and what symptoms warrant contacting the practice or seeking urgent medical attention.

05

Evaluate the Response

Your provider explains when to assess the softening and whether future maintenance should be considered. Because the treatment is temporary, repeat timing depends on response and clinical guidance.

Do not schedule injections simply because a certain number of weeks have passed. Daxxify’s labeling advises against treatment more often than once every three months.

YOUR INJECTABLE OPTIONS

Daxxify®, Botox® & Dysport® — What Changes?

All three are prescription neuromodulators—not dermal fillers. The brand and dose that worked for someone else may not be the right match for your facial movement.

Daxxify®

Peptide-formulated daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm. FDA-approved cosmetically for adult moderate to severe glabellar lines. In its frown-line studies, median return to baseline was approximately six months.

Botox® Cosmetic

OnabotulinumtoxinA, an established option with FDA-approved cosmetic uses that include frown lines, forehead lines, and crow’s feet, among others. Duration and treatment planning differ by area and patient.

Dysport®

AbobotulinumtoxinA, another injectable option approved to improve adult moderate to severe glabellar lines. Onset, diffusion, treatment units, and duration are not interchangeable with Daxxify or Botox.

RESULTS & EXPECTATIONS

Designed for Results That Develop Naturally

Some patients in Daxxify clinical studies noticed early improvement within one to two days. For others, results develop more gradually. Your provider will discuss when you can reasonably assess your frown lines and whether you need a follow-up.

In the pivotal SAKURA glabellar-line studies, the median time to return to baseline severity was approximately 26–28 weeks (around six months). This does not mean every person stays smooth for six months. The experience can be shorter or longer, and the appearance fades gradually as muscle activity returns.

The goal is smoother frown lines that fit your features, not a guaranteed amount of movement or a permanent change.

What to Expect After Injection

  • Small injection-site marks, mild soreness, or bruising can occur.
  • Temporary headache or a heavy feeling may occur.
  • Follow the injector’s guidance on avoiding pressure or rubbing at treated sites.
  • Call the practice about unexpected asymmetry, brow or eyelid drooping, or concerns.
  • Seek urgent care for new breathing, swallowing, or speaking difficulty after any botulinum toxin injection.
SAFETY & SMART QUESTIONS

Confidence Begins With Clear Answers

Daxxify is a prescription medication, not a risk-free cosmetic service. The most commonly reported adverse effects with glabellar-line treatment include headache, eyelid drooping (ptosis), and injection-site or facial muscle reactions. Botulinum toxin products carry a boxed warning for distant spread of toxin effect.

Although uncommon, toxin effects can spread beyond the injection area and cause weakness, hoarseness, difficulty speaking, swallowing or breathing. Seek immediate medical attention if these symptoms occur. Tell the injector if you have a neuromuscular condition or take muscle relaxants, aminoglycoside antibiotics, or other products affecting neuromuscular function.

Important Product Distinctions

  • FDA cosmetic indication: moderate to severe glabellar lines in adults.
  • Not a forehead/crow’s feet approval: those uses would be off-label for Daxxify.
  • No universal six-month result: duration varies.
  • Not interchangeable units: Daxxify units cannot be swapped with Botox or Dysport units.
  • Provider review: active-site infection or known hypersensitivity can rule out treatment.

COMMON QUESTIONS

Daxxify® FAQs

What is Daxxify®?

Daxxify® (daxibotulinumtoxinA-lanm) is an FDA-approved prescription botulinum toxin type A injectable. Its cosmetic indication is temporary improvement of moderate to severe lines between the eyebrows (glabellar or “11” lines) in adults. It works by reducing the activity of the muscles that create those lines.

How long does Daxxify® last?

In pivotal trials for adult frown lines, the median time for wrinkle severity to return to baseline was approximately 26–28 weeks, or about six months. That is a study result, not a guarantee for any individual. Response and duration vary.

How quickly will I notice Daxxify® results?

Some trial participants reported visible improvement within one or two days, but others need more time. Your provider will explain what changes to expect and when to evaluate your result.

Is Daxxify® different from Botox® or Dysport®?

All three contain a form of botulinum toxin type A that reduces targeted muscle activity. Daxxify uses a distinctive peptide-stabilized formulation and has its own dosing units and clinical data. Units are not interchangeable or directly convertible between brands.

Is Daxxify® FDA-approved for forehead lines and crow’s feet?

Daxxify’s FDA-approved cosmetic indication is moderate to severe glabellar frown lines in adults. A provider might discuss other aesthetic applications as off-label uses, but they are not part of that approved cosmetic indication.

Will Daxxify® make me look frozen?

The intention is to reduce targeted frowning while maintaining a natural-looking appearance. The outcome depends on facial anatomy, dose, placement, and individual response. No injectable guarantees a particular look or degree of preserved movement.

What are the side effects and safety considerations?

Potential effects include bruising, swelling, headache, and eyelid drooping. Botulinum toxin products carry a boxed warning about possible spread of toxin effect, which can cause serious swallowing or breathing difficulties. Discuss medical history and medicines before treatment.

Can I switch from Botox® to Daxxify®?

Many patients ask about switching, but it requires an individual assessment. Tell your provider about the brand, date, dose, and response to your last injection. Dosing units cannot simply be copied from Botox® or Dysport®.

How often can Daxxify® be repeated?

The FDA labeling states that Daxxify should not be given more frequently than every three months. Your provider will individualize timing based on your response, goals, and clinical evaluation.

Does insurance cover cosmetic Daxxify®?

Treatment for cosmetic frown lines is generally considered elective and is not usually covered by insurance. Ask the office about current pricing and treatment planning.
