What is Scar Revision?
As a very common skin issue, scars may be located on any area of the body and face. In some cases, a scar is an unwanted reminder of a wound that once existed or another condition that caused a disruption to the skin’s surface. While most scars are not an issue, certain scars are unappealing and unsightly. They may be too wide or too big, dark, bumpy, raised, or recessed. Based on where the scar is located and its condition, laser scar revision or microneedling can be performed to improve its appearance. What Can I Expect From Scar Revision Treatment?
Typically, you will need multiple laser or microneedling scar treatments to get the desired results. Many patients at Living Water Medical Spa have 3 – 5 sessions several weeks apart. Your skin will begin to show improvement in 2 – 3 months as it replenishes healthy skin cells and supplemental collagen and elastin your body will naturally produce. With these treatments, you should have minimal downtime (less than 4 – 5 days). You should feel fine to continue your normal routine. We recommend that you have a laser scar treatment over a long weekend if it is in a visible spot (your face).
