We offer safe, effective vein treatments in our Abingdon, VA, and Johnson City, TN, offices, customized for your vein concerns and lifestyle. With summer finally upon us, we’re covering the most popular ways to banish varicose veins. Today’s treatments are quick, minimally invasive, and done right in the office. That means no surgery, no major downtime, and visible results that last through the summer and beyond.
Varithena®
Varithena is an injectable foam-based treatment for larger or twisted varicose veins. Once injected, it spreads out, disperses blood to other veins, then collapses the vein from the inside. The treatment is quick, takes less than an hour, and most people return to normal activities the same day.
Varithena is a type of sclerotherapy. Traditional sclerotherapy injects a liquid solution to trigger irritation inside the vein walls so it closes and fades over time. Liquid sclerotherapy is the gold standard for spider veins, but Varithena is usually the more effective option for varicose veins.
Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT) and Radiofrequency Ablation (RFA)
These treatments are similar but work differently. EVLT uses laser energy, delivered through fiber, to heat and close the vein from the inside.
RFA uses radiofrequency energy (heat) delivered through a catheter to shrink and close the vein.
As with Varithena, these treatments offer a comfortable in-office experience with little or no downtime.
